If you smell gas
- Turn off the gas supply at the cylinder or isolator valve.
- Open the windows and doors.
- Do not light a flame or switch electrical items on or off.
- Call a technician and leave the stove off until it has been checked.
To avoid repeat faults
- Wipe the hob with a damp cloth. Do not flood it, because water in the ignition switches stops the spark.
- Put burner caps and crowns back on the right burner. They are not always interchangeable between sizes.
- Clean up boil-overs soon, before the residue blocks the jets.
- Do not over-tighten pan supports on a glass-top hob. Glass tops crack from stress and thermal shock.
- Have the regulator and hose checked if all burners run weak. Regulators have a service life.
If the hob stops sparking right after a deep clean, let it dry for a day before assuming it is broken.
