AC Repair in Dubai

When an air conditioner fails in a Dubai summer it stops being an inconvenience and becomes an emergency. Naveed Electronics has repaired split, window and ducted systems across the city since 1996, and AC breakdowns go to the front of our queue. Call and a technician is usually with you the same day, carrying the compressors, capacitors, fan motors and refrigerant that fail most often in this climate.

Common faults

What is yours doing?

Find your symptom below. Each one tells you the usual cause, so you know roughly what you are dealing with before you call.

AC blowing warm air

Usually low refrigerant from a slow leak, a failed compressor, or a capacitor that has given up in the heat. We pressure-test before topping up gas — refilling a leaking system just wastes your money.

Water dripping from the indoor unit

A blocked condensate drain line, almost always dust and algae. Common in Dubai after a season without servicing. Cleared and flushed on site.

Unit runs but the room never cools

Dirty evaporator and condenser coils choke airflow. Dust loading here is the single most common Dubai fault. Deep coil clean restores most of the cooling.

AC trips the breaker

A shorted compressor winding, a failing capacitor, or an undersized circuit. We test the current draw rather than just resetting it, because repeated tripping damages the compressor.

Loud rattling, humming or screeching

Worn fan bearings, a loose blower wheel, or compressor mounts that have perished. Caught early these are cheap; ignored they take the compressor with them.

Bad smell when the AC starts

Mould in the drain pan or on the evaporator coil. This is an air-quality issue, not just an odour — it needs a proper chemical clean, not air freshener.

AC Repair in Dubai — what actually goes wrong

Why AC units fail faster in Dubai

Three things work against an air conditioner here: heat, dust and salt. Ambient temperatures above 45°C mean the condenser has almost no temperature difference to reject heat into, so the compressor runs longer and hotter than it was designed to. Airborne dust coats the condenser fins and acts as insulation, making that worse. Near the coast, salt in the air corrodes the aluminium fins and copper joints, which is where slow refrigerant leaks usually begin. This is why a unit that would last fifteen years in Europe often needs serious attention here by year six.

Refrigerant top-up versus leak repair

A sealed AC system does not consume refrigerant. If yours is low, it is leaking. Some Dubai companies will happily regas the same unit every season because it is quick money. We pressure-test the system with nitrogen, find the leak, repair or replace the affected section, evacuate the system properly with a vacuum pump, then charge it to the manufacturer's stated weight. It costs more than a top-up once, and less than a top-up every year.

Compressor failure: repair or replace?

The compressor is the most expensive component in the system, so an honest diagnosis matters. We check whether the compressor itself has failed or whether it has been killed by something upstream — a stuck capacitor, a blocked condenser, or low refrigerant causing it to run hot. If we simply fit a new compressor without fixing the cause, the new one fails too. Where the unit is old and the compressor has gone, we will tell you plainly that replacement is the better spend.

Servicing that actually does something

A real AC service is not a wipe-down. It means removing and chemically cleaning the evaporator and condenser coils, flushing the drain line, checking refrigerant pressures against ambient temperature, testing capacitor microfarads against the rating on the label, checking amp draw on the compressor and fan motors, and tightening electrical terminals that vibrate loose over a season. Done twice a year in Dubai, this is the difference between a unit that lasts and one that does not.

Pricing

What the repair will cost

We do not publish a fixed price list, because quoting a number before seeing the fault would be guesswork. Here is what actually moves the price, so you can judge whether a quote you are given is fair.

  • Which part failedThe single biggest factor. Sensors, switches, seals and elements are inexpensive. Compressors, motors and control boards are not, because the part itself costs a lot.
  • Genuine or compatible partOriginal manufacturer parts cost more and last longer. Where a genuine part is discontinued we tell you and let you decide.
  • Home visit or workshopMost repairs finish at your home in one visit. Bench work adds collection and return, which we quote up front.
  • Built-in or freestandingIntegrated units fitted into cabinetry take longer to remove and refit correctly, which adds labour time.
  • Age of the applianceIf a repair would cost more than about half the price of a new unit, we tell you to replace it instead. We would rather lose the job than sell you a bad one.

For air conditioning specifically, the cheapest common jobs are a drain-line clear, a capacitor change or a coil clean. A fan motor or PCB sits in the middle. A compressor replacement is the most expensive single repair on a split system, and on an older unit it is often the point where replacement makes more sense. Refrigerant top-ups are quoted by weight after we have found and fixed the leak.

How it works in practice: you get a realistic range on the phone, then a fixed quote after diagnosis. Nothing is opened, ordered or charged until you approve that figure.

Questions

AC Repair in Dubai — answered

How quickly can you repair my AC in Dubai?

For most areas of Dubai we attend the same day, usually within two to four hours. AC failures are treated as emergencies during summer because indoor temperatures climb dangerously fast. Sharjah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi are scheduled by appointment, often next day.

How much does AC repair cost in Dubai?

It depends entirely on the fault. A drain-line clear or capacitor change sits at the cheap end; a compressor replacement is the most expensive job on a split system because the part itself is costly. We give you a realistic range on the phone and a fixed quote after diagnosis, which you approve before any work starts.

How often should an AC be serviced in Dubai?

Twice a year for most homes, and before summer at minimum. Dubai's dust loading means coils clog far faster than in cooler climates. Villas near the coast and units running twenty-four hours benefit from quarterly servicing.

Do you refill AC gas?

Yes, but we pressure-test for leaks first. A sealed system does not lose refrigerant unless something is leaking, so simply topping it up means you will be paying again in a few months. We find the leak, repair it, evacuate the system and charge it to the correct weight.

Do you repair ducted and cassette AC systems?

Yes. Alongside wall-mounted splits and window units we handle ducted and concealed systems in villas and cassette units in offices, shops and restaurants. We also take on annual maintenance contracts for buildings with multiple units.

Can you install a new AC as well as repair one?

Yes. We supply and install split systems, including bracket mounting, copper piping, drainage and commissioning. If your existing unit is beyond economic repair we will tell you that honestly and quote for replacement instead.
