What is yours doing?
Find your symptom below. Each one tells you the usual cause, so you know roughly what you are dealing with before you call.
TV will not switch on at all
Standby light off or blinking means the power supply board. Bulging capacitors on that board are a very common and repairable fault.
Vertical or horizontal lines on the screen
Lines usually point at the T-CON board or the panel's ribbon connections. T-CON faults are repairable; panel faults often are not, and we will tell you which you have.
Half the screen is dark or dim
Failed backlight strips on one side. Common on larger LED panels after a few years of heat.
Screen flickers or dims randomly
A failing power board or backlight driver. Left alone it usually progresses to total backlight failure.
Smart TV apps freeze or will not load
Firmware or mainboard memory fault. Sometimes recoverable with a firmware reflash rather than a board replacement.

TV/LCD/LED Repair — what actually goes wrong
Backlight failure is the most common repairable TV fault
If your TV has sound but no visible picture, hold a torch close to the dark screen and look carefully. If you can see a faint image, the panel and all the processing are fine and only the LED backlight has failed. This is a repair, not a write-off: the strips are replaceable and the job is well within our workshop's scope. Many people replace a perfectly good television because nobody told them this.
What we can repair and what we cannot
We are direct about this because it saves everyone time. Power boards, backlight strips, T-CON boards, mainboards, HDMI ports and firmware faults are all repairable. A physically cracked or internally damaged LCD panel is not economically repairable — the panel is most of the cost of the television. If you have a cracked screen we will tell you straight away rather than charging for a diagnosis to reach the same conclusion.
Why cheap TV repairs come back
The shortcut approach is to swap boards until the symptom goes away. It sometimes works, but if the original fault was a failing power rail, the new board fails too. We diagnose to component level — testing capacitors, MOSFETs and voltage rails — so the underlying cause is fixed. That is also why we can offer a warranty on the work.
Bench work, collection and return
Some TV faults can be dealt with at your home, but panel and board-level work needs a static-safe bench, proper test equipment and space to lay a large screen flat. When that is the case we collect the television, repair it at the Al Satwa workshop, and deliver it back. You are told the fault and the fixed price before anything is ordered.

What the repair will cost
We do not publish a fixed price list, because quoting a number before seeing the fault would be guesswork. Here is what actually moves the price, so you can judge whether a quote you are given is fair.
- Which part failedThe single biggest factor. Sensors, switches, seals and elements are inexpensive. Compressors, motors and control boards are not, because the part itself costs a lot.
- Genuine or compatible partOriginal manufacturer parts cost more and last longer. Where a genuine part is discontinued we tell you and let you decide.
- Home visit or workshopMost repairs finish at your home in one visit. Bench work adds collection and return, which we quote up front.
- Built-in or freestandingIntegrated units fitted into cabinetry take longer to remove and refit correctly, which adds labour time.
- Age of the applianceIf a repair would cost more than about half the price of a new unit, we tell you to replace it instead. We would rather lose the job than sell you a bad one.
For televisions, a power supply board repair is at the cheap end. Backlight strip replacement is mid-range and scales with screen size — a 43-inch costs noticeably less than a 75-inch. A T-CON or mainboard replacement is the expensive end. A physically cracked panel is not economically repairable and we will tell you that before charging for anything.

Can you repair a cracked TV screen?
